Her funeral was held the next day at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. Rabbi Jerome Cutler presided over the private Jewish ceremony.

Taylor requested that the ceremony start 15 minutes late because, according to her representative, “she even wanted to be late for her own funeral.” She was laid to rest in the Great Mausoleum of the cemetery.

Throughout her life, Elizabeth Taylor faced various health issues. She was also addicted to alcohol as well as prescription pain relievers and tranquillizers. From December 1983 to January 1984, she was treated at the Betty Ford Centre for seven weeks.

Elizabeth Taylor’s health deteriorated over the last two decades of her life, and she rarely appeared in public after 1996. Taylor had serious bouts of pneumonia in 1990 and 2000, two hip replacement surgeries in the mid-1990s, surgery for a benign brain tumour in 1997, and successful skin cancer treatment in 2002.

Due to back problems, she used a wheelchair and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2004.
