Gray’s illustrious career began with roles as a researcher on “Cross-Country Checkup” and occasional substitute hosting duties.
However, it was her remarkable tenure at “As It Happens” that defined her legacy. Taking over as cohost in 1981 following Barbara Frum, Gray’s dedication to storytelling and delivering news captivated audiences.

Her career was not without challenges, including a controversial replacement in 1985, but she persevered, eventually returning to “As It Happens” as an occasional guest host under different producers.

Gray passed away on October 25, 2023, at 86, after suffering from lung cancer.
