The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that nominations for its much-anticipated flagbearership primary will begin on Friday, May 26, and will end on June 24, 2023.

On November 4, 2023, the National Congress will be held to determine the party’s presidential candidate.
Also, the party has announced the schedule for parliamentary primaries in orphan constituencies as well as constituencies with serving Members of Parliament (MPs).
Nominations for orphan constituencies will be accepted beginning June 16, 2023, and will close on July 14, 2023. Elections will be held between August 1, 2023, and December 2, 2023.

Nominations for seats with current MPs, on the other hand, will commence on December 20, 2023, and close on January 4, 2024. The elections will be held on February 24, 2024.
The NPP has asked all members who wish to run for various posts to keep the dates in mind and to follow the rules and regulations governing the primaries.
However, Ernest Yaw Anim of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won the Kumawu Constituency by-election with 15,264 votes (70.91%), retaining the party’s seat.
Following the enormous stakes placed in the seat by both the ruling NPP and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), its candidate Kwasi Amankwaa finished a distant second with 3,727 votes or 17.29 percent.
