Edgar, who is the brother of the recently arrested drug kingpin Ovidio Guzman, was killed during an ambush at a shopping centre in Sinaloa in 2008.

Edgar Guzman Lopez was one of the trusted sons of El Chapo, a former most-wanted drug lord currently serving a life sentence in the US.
Born on May 30, 1986, into a family whose business was basically drug trafficking, and led by his father Joaquin Guzman, a.k.a, El Chapo.

Edgar and his three brothers, learnt the illegal business from their father and became known as the Los Chapitos.
They operated the Sinaloa drug cartel known for trafficking drugs to various countries across the globe, and known to be one of the largest and most powerful drug-trafficking organisations in the world.
On 5 January 2023, Edgar’s brother, Ovidio Guzman, was arrested for the second time, in the Jesús María district of Culiacán, leading to a major uprising in the city.
Edgar was married to his wife, Frida Chavez and had a daughter named Frida Sofia Guzman.
