Scheduled to span approximately 11 weeks, the project will be executed by Indian firm Arvensis Energy Private Limited. It entails upgrading the 33Kv Line from Ridge BSP through Kaase Substation to the ECG Boadi Substation.
Officials from ECG, led by Ing. Eugene Nyanor, Manager Network Maintenance, Ashanti Sub-Transmission, along with representatives from the contracting company, recently met with Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah to provide updates on the initiative.
Once completed, the project is expected to bolster the capacity of the lines, facilitating improved power distribution reliability across the region.

Key components of the upgrade include the replacement of 265mm² conductors with 400mm² conductors to boost power generation and enhance supply reliability.
Additionally, the project will entail doubling one-phase cables per phase to increase capacity and the installation of galvanized steel towers.
While the upgrade may lead to temporary inconveniences for residents due to intermittent power supply, Ing. Nyanor assured that measures will be implemented to minimize disruptions and communicate planned outages in advance through the company’s public relations channels.
Expressing optimism about the project’s impact, Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah pledged the full support of the Regional Coordinating Council to ensure its successful execution.
He highlighted the project’s timeliness, coinciding with the anticipated commissioning of the Ameri Plant, which is poised to further stabilize the power situation in the region.
