Earnie Shavers was a professional boxer from the United States who competed between 1969 and 1995.

Earnie Shavers passed away on September 1, 2022.  His cause of death has not been made known.

Shavers began boxing at the age of 22. He had a brief but notable amateur career before turning professional, winning the 1969 National AAU heavyweight title.

Earnie Shavers was a two-time world heavyweight championship challenger and is regarded as one of the most powerful punchers in heavyweight boxing history.

Earnie Shavers won 68 fights by knockout, including 23 in the first round. He has an overall knockout ratio of 76.4%.

His most notable victory came in March 1979, when he knocked out Ken Norton in the first round at the Las Vegas Hilton. He also defeated former heavyweight champion Jimmy Ellis and the highly touted Jimmy Young.
