On Monday, May 2, 2022, two toddlers were killed by a speeding vehicle. Police say the speeding driver lost control and crashed through a fence into a corral where the two toddlers were playing. The two three-year-olds have been identified as Odin Ratliff and Hunter Jackson.

“It was windy, I thought maybe the wind had caught the roof,” Angela Gewondjan, the founder of Angels Landing, said. “It took us a minute to see mom’s running and screaming than to see the car.”

According to witnesses, the alleged driver, 25-year-old Kent Cody Barlow, was weaving in and out of his lane. According to a passenger, he was driving between 80 and 100 miles per hour.
Barlow was under the influence of drugs and tested positive for methamphetamine, according to police. According to arrest records, he has a long history of criminal convictions and drug-related charges, and he was on parole at the time of the accident.
Speeding is a common problem on this road, according to some residents, and it’s an issue they’ve raised with the city. They expressed their hope that something is done to prevent similar accidents in the future.
