The Greater Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has withdrawn its application seeking to prohibit organizers of the ‘#DumsorMustStop’ demonstration from taking place.

EIB Network’s Legal Affairs Correspondent, Murtala Inusah, reported that the withdrawal of the application was due to the organizers accepting to vary their initial route for the protest.
The police filed the action on May 20, 2024, after urging the organizers to consider relocating the planned protest venue.
However, in court on Friday, May 24, 2024, Justice Lydia Osei Marfo announced that the police had written to withdraw their application.

Justice Marfo stated, “The application is struck out as withdrawn.”
Initially, the police had requested the organizers to adjust the timing for the protest scheduled for Saturday, May 25, 2024. When this request was declined, the police filed a motion asking the court to stop the event entirely.
The case, titled “Inspector General of Police vs Yvonne Nelson, Selorm Dramani Dzramado and Henry Osei Akoto,” was represented by Chief Inspector Jonas Laweh for the police (Applicants), while the Respondents were absent and had no legal representation when the case was struck out.
