The FBI included Dulce on its “Most Wanted” list of kidnapped and missing children a week after she went missing.
In an interview with 6ABC on the first anniversary, as family members gathered at Bridgeton City Park, Alavez Perez expressed regret for allowing her children to go to the playground alone while she stayed in the car.

There were no cameras around to record what transpired in the park. “It brings back awful memories because I wish I could go back in time and accompany her to the park instead of leaving her alone,” Alavez Perez said. “I’d apologise for not looking over her.
Investigators have had to deal with false leads in the case at times, including unsubstantiated allegations that Dulce was seen in Ohio around March 2020.
