After being drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers as 130th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Tranquill moved to join the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023.

Tranquill played high school football at Carroll High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

As a high school senior, he was a four-star recruit, and recorded 75 tackles as a linebacker. He also had “1,420 yards and 28 touchdowns on 114 carries on the ground as a running back.”

He later moved to Notre Dame to play college football, and as a freshman, he appeared in 11 games with three starts and recorded 33 tackles.”

His time at Notre Dame saw him win the Wuerffel Trophy.

In 2019, Tranquill was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
