Drew VerHagen Joins Cardinals On A Two-Year Contract

The St. Louis Cardinals has announced that they have agreed to sign a two-year contract worth $5.5 with Drew Verhagen. Details of the contract are yet to be shared with the media.

Drew who was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the fourth round in 2012 out of Vanderbilt University, pitched the past two seasons with Nippon Ham Fighters of the Japan Pacific League, going a combined 13-14 with a 3.49 ERA in 39 games.

Drew’s most recent MLB experience is a six-year stint with the Detroit Tigers between 2014-19. He posted a 10-10 record, authoring a 5.11 ERA and 4.76 FIP over 199 innings while making eight starts and 119 relief appearances.

Drew throws two primary pitches: a fastball in 93-96 mph range and an upper 70s curveball. He throws this fastball as both four-seamer and two-seamer. He mixes in an occasional changeup at 82-86mph.
