Jim Carrey is a renowned Canadian-American actor, comedian, writer, and producer best known for his recurring role in the American sketch comedy television series In Living Color.

James Eugene Carrey was born on January 17, 1962, in Newmarket, Canada to parents Percy Joseph Carrey and Kathleen Oram. His mother Kathleen was a homemaker, while his father Percy Carrey worked as a musician and accountant.

Jim Carrey was alongside three older siblings, John, Patricia, and Rita. He attended Blessed Trinity Catholic Elementary School in North York, Toronto. He then attended Aldershot High School and enrolled at Agincourt Collegiate Institute before dropping out on his sixteenth birthday.

Jim Carrey is a dual citizen of both the United States and Canada. He rose into the spotlight in 1990, after he was handed a recurring role in the American sketch comedy television series In Living Color (1990–1994). His fame heightened with his performance in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask and Dumb and Dumber (all 1994).

Jim Carrey earned Golden Globe Awards for his leading roles in The Truman Show (1998) and Man on the Moon (1999). He published his first book, a children’s story titled How Roland Rolls in 2013. The book was awarded a 2013 Gelett Burgess Children’s Book Award. In 2020, he co-authored his first novel, Memoirs and Misinformation, with Dana Vachon.
