Judge Steven Boyce sentenced Vallow to life in prison without the possibility of parole months after the Idaho mother was convicted in May of the 2019 murders of her son, Joshua “J.J.” Vallow, and her daughter, Tylee Ryan, as well as Tammy Daybell, 49.
Lori was also convicted of grand theft by fraud in the case for accepting government compensation following her children’s killings. She was sentenced to ten years in prison for that conviction.

Prior to sentencing Lori on July 31 2023, , Judge Boyce described her offences as “heinous and egregious,” and stated that Lori had exhibited no remorse for her actions. You chose the most evil and destructive path possible,” Boyce stated, adding later, “you justified all of this by going down a bizarre religious rabbit hole and clearly you are still down there.”
Vallow addressed the court before Boyce sentenced her, making weird, rambling assertions that both her killed children and Tammy Daybell had visited her after their deaths, and that J.J. had told her, “You didn’t do anything wrong, Mom.”
