Donald Trelford was a British journalist and Editor of The Observer newspaper between 1975 to 1993.
Donald served as editor of The Observer for 18 years, and contributed to the media house winning various press awards including newspaper of the year.
He was awarded the international editor of the year in 1984.

Donald rose to from director of The Observer to chief executive in 1992.
Aside from his editorial duties, Donald served as professor of Journalism Studies at the University of Sheffield, chairman of the London Press Club, and member of the Advertising Standards Authority.
Donald was also a published author and a columnist.
Donald passed away on January 27, 2023, at the age of 85, after a long illness.
