Donald McEachin Wife: Meet Colette McEachin

Colette McEachin was the wife of Donald McEachin, an American politician and lawyer who served as the 4th congressional district’s representative in Virginia from 2017 until his death in 2022.

McEachin’s wife, Colette, became interim Commonwealth’s Attorney for Richmond in 2019 after serving in that position for 20 years.

She also won the Democratic nomination on August 10, 2019, and was unopposed in the November 5, 2019 special election. Her term expired in 2021. They lived in Richmond with their three children.

McEachin, a Democrat, served in the Virginia House of Delegates twice, from 1996 to 2002 and again from 2006 to 2008.

He served in the Virginia Senate from 2008 to 2017, representing the 9th district, which included Charles City County as well as parts of Henrico County and the city of Richmond.

McEachin ran in 2016 for the open seat in Virginia’s 4th congressional district left by Republican Randy Forbes and won with 57.3% of the vote.

Donald McEachin died from complications of cancer on November 28, 2022, at the age of 61.

In 2018, McEachin revealed that he had developed a fistula after completing treatment for colorectal cancer in 2014, losing more than 60 pounds (27 kg) as a result.
