Donald Mayer Blinken, an American businessman and diplomat has died at age 96. He died two months to his 97th birthday.

Donald’s death was announced by his son and current United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
What was Donald M. Blinken’s cause of death? Donald Blinken died peacefully at his home in East Hampton, Long Island, his son said. However, a cause of death was not given.

“My family lost a parent and grandparent, a source of love and inspiration — my father Donald Blinken.

“A member of the U.S. Army Air Corps, a U.S. ambassador, president of the Mark Rothko Foundation, (chairman of the board) of the State University of New York, dad served his city, state and country.
“Dad inspired me to public service.
“He lived with decency, dignity and modesty. He loved his wife Vera and his family. He built a wonderful life and gave me a wonderful life. I love you dad.
Donal Blinken was a director and one of the founders of E. M. Warburg Pincus & Company, an investment bank in New York.
He served as the board chairman of the State University of New York from 1978 to 1990 and as United States Ambassador to Hungary from 1994 to 1997.
