Late Don Lind, during his lifetime, had seven children – David M. Lind, Kimberly Lind, Carol A. Lind, Douglas M. Lind, Lisa C. Lind, Dawna Lind and Daniel L. Lind.

Who Was Don Lind?

Don Lind was a scientist, NASA astronaut, pilot, military veteran and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Lind was born on May 18, 1930 and grew up in Midvale, Utah.

He was schooled at Midvale Elementary School and graduated from Jordan High School in 1948.

He proceeded to the University of Utah, where he bagged his first degree in physics.

After his military service obligation, Lind bagged a Ph.D. in high-energy nuclear physics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Lind died on August 30, 2022, in Logan, Utah, at the age of 92.

Don Lind Career

Lind had been an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, as a student.

As a Naval Aviator he rose to the rank of Commander in the United States Naval Reserve.

Lind also worked at NASA’s Goddard Research Center for two years. He was part of the team that developed the Apollo 11 EVA activities, and served as CAPCOM for the Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 missions.

Lind further served as backup Pilot for Skylab 3 and Skylab 4.
