Don L. Lind Cause of Death

American scientist and NASA astronaut, Don Lind, passed away from natural causes, on August 30, 2022, in Logan, Utah.

He was aged 92.

Lind was a pilot, military veteran and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

When Was Don Lind Born?

Lind was born on May 18, 1930 and grew up in Midvale, Utah.

He was schooled at Midvale Elementary School and graduated from Jordan High School in 1948.

He proceeded to the University of Utah, where he bagged his first degree in physics.

After his military service obligation, Lind bagged a Ph.D. in high-energy nuclear physics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Don Lind Career

Lind had been an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, as a student.

As a Naval Aviator he rose to the rank of Commander in the United States Naval Reserve.

Lind also worked at NASA’s Goddard Research Center for two years. He was part of the team that developed the Apollo 11 EVA activities, and served as CAPCOM for the Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 missions.

Lind further served as backup Pilot for Skylab 3 and Skylab 4.

Lind is known for designing payload experiments that captured the Earth’s aurora. The Orbiter had landed at Edwards Air Force Base, California, after completing 110 orbits.
