Don Browne obituary

At the age of 80, Don Browne, a former general manager of WTVJ and former president of Telemundo Network, passed away.

Browne was raised in Toms River, New Jersey, and received a football scholarship to the University of South Carolina, where he started his pursuit of truthful reporting and storytelling.

For NBC News, Browne oversaw historic news coverage of numerous historic events, including the collapse of the Berlin Wall, the Challenger Space Shuttle Explosion, the Nicaragua/Contra Revolution, and natural disasters.

He rose to the top of the NBC leadership structure thanks to his work ethic, passion, and drive.

Browne was appointed General Manager of Miami’s WTVJ while advancing the careers of others and pressuring NBC News to hire more women and minorities.
