Dominic Purcell is a British born-Australian actor. He is the son of Phil Myrtvedt and Maureen Purcell.

He was was born in Wallasey, Cheshire, England. However, in 1972, he and his family relocated to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, first to Bondi and then to Penrith. He enrolled at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, where he studied under Hugh Jackman.
Purcell’s parents and siblings all reside now in Dundalk, Ireland. He visits twice a year to see the family. Dominic holds triple citizenship: British, Irish, and Australian. He is British by virtue of being born in the UK before the country abolished unconditional birthright citizenship in 1983. He has Irish citizenship automatically through his Irish mother.
