William is the younger brother of Willson Contreras, who also plays in the MLB as a catcher for the Chicago Cubs.
His brother,Willson, was a free agent when he signed with the Chicago Cubs in 2009. He turned pro while playing with the Dominican Summer League Cubs same year.
William Contreras Career
William first got signed with the Atlanta Braves in 2015, as an international free agent.
He turned pro with the DSL Braves, hitting .314/.370/.413/.783 with 32 RBIs. He also played for the GCL Braves in 2016 and recorded .264/.346/.375/.721 with 1 home run and 8 RBIs.

During his major league career, he batted .215/.303/.399 with 8 home runs and 23 RBIs. The same year, the Braves won the 2021 World Series, which was their first title since 1995.
During the Atlanta Braves’ 2022 Opening Day, William played as a backup catcher.
He emerged as the 2022 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Him and his brother Willson made it to the list of brothers to be selected to an All-Star Game.
