The Denver Broncos were sold for $4.65 billion to an investor group led by Walmart heir Rob Walton, a record price for a North American sports club.

The NFL franchise announced on June 7th that a sale agreement had been struck with the group, which also includes Walton’s daughter, Carrie Walton Penner, her husband Greg, and Mellody Hobson, the co-chief executive of Ariel Investments.

The agreement is scheduled to be completed within 90 days, subject to approval by the NFL’s finance committee and a vote by league owners.

Do Waltons still own Walmart?

The Waltons still own Walmart. As of December 2014, the Waltons owned 50.8% of Walmart. In 2018, the family sold some of their company’s stock and now owns 50% of it. On January 19th, the Walton family’s net worth was estimated to be around US$240.6 billion.
