Steven Stamkos is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre and captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League.

Steven Stamkos was born on February 7, 1990, in Markham, Canada. His parents are Chris Stamkos and Lesley Stamkos. He was raised alongside a sister named Sarah Stamkos. He is of Macedonian and Scottish descent.

Steven Stamkos spent most of his childhood in Unionville, Ontario. He attended Central Park Public School and St. Brother André Catholic High School in Markham, Ontario. He also attended Northern Collegiate Institute and Vocational School in Sarnia. He played for the Markham Waxers in the Eastern AAA Hockey League of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA).

Steven Stamkos won eight OMHA titles in a row in minor hockey and played in the 2003 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Markham Waxers. Stamkos was selected first overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Lightning. He is a two-time Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy winner as the NHL’s leading goal-scorer (2010 and 2012), is a two-time NHL Second Team All-Star (2011, 2012), and has been named to seven NHL All-Star Games.

Steven Stamkos has scored the most goals and the most points of any player born in the 1990s decade. He captained the Lightning to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 2020, and 2021. As of now, Steven Stamkos is the captain of the Lightning in the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals. He tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend Sandra Porzio on June 30, 2017.
