Metta Sandiford-Artest won 1 championship in his career as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers in 2010.

However,  just four months after receiving the diamond-encrusted piece of hardware during an on-court ceremony, Ron Artest gave it away.

Sandiford-Artest attended St. John’s University and played basketball for the Red Storm. He played for six NBA teams and established himself as one of the league’s top defenders.

In 2004, he won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award while also being named an NBA All-Star and earning All-NBA honors.

Metta Sandiford-Artest  scored a team-high 18 points in the second half to help the Lakers extend their longest winning streak in four years to five games with a 108-96 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on April 11, 2017.

He had the ball in his hands with the crowd on their feet for the Lakers’ final possession in what could be his final game at Staples Center. During the game, he recorded his 1,716th and 1,717th career steals, moving him past Ron Harper for 22nd place in NBA history.
