Does Neil Young Have A Disabled Son? Do Both Of Neil Young’s Son’s Have Cerebral Palsy?

Zeke Young, Ben Young, are the sons of Canadian multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter – Neil Young. Both Zeke and Ben suffer disability bas a result of cerebral palsy.

Cerebral palsy is a permanent movement disorder that manifests in early childhood and often results in poor coordination, stiff muscles, and tremors, which makes it difficult for someone to even stand under their own power.

Speaking to Rolling Stone in 1988 about the complexities of fatherhood and the difficulties he has faced from having two disabled children, Neil explained: “No one knows”.

Zeke Young is Neil’s first child born in 1972, to actress Carrie Snodgrass; while Ben Young was born in 1978 to Neil and Pegi Young, Ben was also diagnosed with cerebral palsy after his birth in 1978. He suffered the pains of having stiff muscles, and tremors.

Neil’s sons never fell into despair and realized that they could move on and do whatever they want in spite of their disabilities. He usually took his son Ben to his concerts and felt very happy about his son’s companionship.

Neil himself had suffered from polio in 1952 during the last major outbreak of the disease in Ontario.
