Mary Berry, is an English food writer, chef, baker and television presenter. Mary Berry does not have arthritis. However, she contracted polio at the age of 13 and spent three months in the hospital.

Mary’s left arm and hand became weak as a result of the condition, which is frequently misdiagnosed as arthritis by television viewers.

Mary Berry has written over 75 cookbooks, including the best-selling Baking Bible in 2009. Her first book was The Hamlyn All Colour Cookbook in 1970.

She hosted several BBC and Thames Television television shows. Berry is an occasional contributor to Woman’s Hour and Saturday Kitchen. She was a judge on the BBC One (formerly BBC Two) television show

Berry announced in January 2022 that she would chair and judge The Platinum Pudding Competition, a nationwide baking competition launched on 10 January 2022 throughout the United Kingdom by Buckingham Palace Fortnum & Mason, and The Big Jubilee Lunch.

The competition was to find a brand new pudding dedicated to Queen Elizabeth II as part of the official Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022 marking the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession on 6 February 1952.
