Madison Bumgarner has won three World Series championships and two Silver Slugger Awards. He was brought up in an area nicknamed “Bumtown”. Bumgarner has a stepsister and two older half-brothers.

At his high school, Madison Bumgarner played on both the school’s baseball team and the Post 29’s American Legion Baseball team. He led his team at South Caldwell High School to a runner-up in the 2006 4A State Championship.
Baseball America ranked him the third-best prospect in the Giants organization in 2008. The magazine later ranked Madison Bumgarner as the ninth-best prospect in baseball. Bumgarne pitched eight scoreless innings in Game 4 of the 2010 World Series.
Madison Bumgarner set the World Series record for the lowest earned run average (ERA) in 2014. Following the postseason in 2014, Madison Bumgarner won the Babe Ruth Award as the postseason MVP.
