When flying with Lufthansa, you can expect a variety of food and beverage options, depending on your travel class and the length of your flight.

1. Complimentary Meals and Snacks:

On Lufthansa flights, you’ll receive complimentary meals and snacks on board. The selection includes both hot and cold options. For passengers in First Class and Business Class, excellent gourmet cuisine is served on fine china, accompanied by an award-winning selection of wines.

In Premium Economy Class, you’ll also enjoy meals served on fine china, along with a welcome drink upon boarding . Special meals are available for vegetarians, people with food allergies, and members of certain religious faiths. Country-specific cuisine tailored to regional tastes is offered on international routes. Colourful, tasty, and healthy meals are provided especially for children.

2. Premium Economy Class:

In Premium Economy Class, you’ll be welcomed on board with a menu. A bottle of mineral water is already waiting for you at your seat. A specially selected red wine or a refreshing fruit juice, sparkling wine or Selters mineral water, tea or coffee – whatever you’d like – is available. For your first meal on board, Lufthansa serves authentic classics from the cuisines of Central Europe.

On flights lasting at least 6.5 hours, you’ll receive dinner or breakfast as your second meal. Flights over 9 hours include a hot dish like an omelette, accompanied by freshly baked bread rolls. On shorter flights (less than 6.5 hours), a snack such as a delicious wrap is offered instead of the second meal. Creative desserts provide a sweet ending to every good meal.

3. Recent Changes:

It’s important to note that there have been some changes in recent years: In November 2020, Lufthansa Group airlines (including Lufthansa, Swiss, and Austrian) announced that they would no longer offer complimentary food and beverages on board. Instead, they moved to a full buy-on-board program.

In November 2021, Lufthansa introduced “Onboard Delights Interkont” for long-haul flights (with “Interkont” standing for “intercontinental”). This replaced the previous complimentary food and drink service in short-haul economy.

In summary, while there have been changes to the onboard offerings over time, Lufthansa continues to provide complimentary meals and snacks along with a variety of beverage options. Bon appétit!
