Yes, Lewis Black had a younger brother named Ronald Black. Unfortunately, Ronald passed away due to cancer in 1997 at the age of 47. Lewis Black grew up in a middle-class Jewish family in the Burnt Mills neighborhood of Silver Spring, Maryland.

In Washington, D.C., Lewis Black worked at the Appalachian Regional Commission and began performing stand-up comedy. Black’s career in theater took off as a playwright. He wrote the musical “The Czar of Rock and Roll” in 1990.

Lewis Black hosted the Comedy Central series “Lewis Black’s Root of All Evil” and became a regular contributor to “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart, delivering his signature “Back in Black” commentary segment.

In 2015, Lewis Black lent his voice to the character Anger in the Pixar film “Inside Out”. Lewis Black is also a spokesperson for the Aruba Tourism Authority, appearing in television ads.

Lewis Black has been an “ambassador for voting rights” for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) since 2013.
