David West is a former basketball player who played as a power forward for 15 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Born on August 29, 1980, in New Jersey, West played high school basketball at Garner Magnet High School, and Hargrave Military Academy, where he earned the first-team all-state honors.

He had a successful collegiate career playing for Xavier Musketeers, where he also earned several honours.
As a freshman West was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, and as a sophomore, he recorded five 20-point, 20-rebound games, and won his first A-10 Player of the Year award.
In 2003, West was drafted by the New Orleans Hornets as 18th overall in the NBA draft.
West went on to play for the Indiana Pacers, for four seasons, beginning from 2011, after signing a two-year contract worth $20 million.
Consequently, he moved to the San Antonio Spurs and in 2016, he was signed by the Golden State Warriors, and became a “key bench player.”
West was named an NBA All-Star twice and won two NBA championships.
