All Korean men between the ages of 18 and 28 are mandated to serve 20 months in Korean military service. However, BTS might be exempted. According to sources, the Korean culture minister, once shared that BTS might not be obligated to join the military after being given two years extension earlier (over by the end of 2022). This is because they have been given preferential treatment as megastars.

The oldest members of the BTS are Jin and Suga who are 29, followed by J-Hope, 28, RM, 27, and Jimin and V who are both 26. Therefore, most of the members are eligible to take on the mandatory service.
