Aubrey Plaza is an American actress, comedian, and producer. Plaza suffered a stroke as a 20-year-old NYU student, resulting in expressive aphasia and temporary paralysis.

Aubrey Plaza was unable to speak or even communicate by writing, but she could still walk. Fortunately, due to her young age, she recovered from the stroke.

Aubrey Plaza later suffered another minor stroke while filming Parks and Recreation, but she has since recovered.

Aubrey Plaza appeared in the FX series Legion, which was based on the Marvel Comics character. Her portrayal of Lenore “Lenny” Busker earned her a nomination for Best Villain in the MTV Movie Awards, as well as Best Actress in the Imagen Awards.

Plaza most recently co-produced and starred in the Sundance Film Festival premiere of the thriller Black Bear. Critics praised her performance and nominated her for Best Actress at the San Diego Film Critics Society Awards.

Aubrey Plaza won the film’s Hollywood Critics Association Award for Acting Achievement in 2021.
