Nancy was the older sibling of Al Gore and was known for her political acumen and natural charisma. She was a graduate of Vanderbilt University’s College of Arts and Sciences and worked with Sargent Shriver in establishing the Peace Corps.

Nancy was one of Al Gore’s trusted advisers throughout his political career. She was instrumental in his first race for Congress in 1976 and continued to support him in his subsequent campaigns.

As an author and environmental activist, Al Gore’s work in climate change activism earned him (jointly with the IPCC) the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. In 2007, Al Gore was named a runner-up for Time’s 2007 Person of the Year.
