DJ Ian Bell cause of death

Ian Bell, an Australian DJ and music writer, died of a heart attack in Paris while on vacation with his family and en route to the UK for the Eurovision Song Contest.

According to Adelaide publication The Advertiser, the DJ died on May 2 during his family’s first stop in Paris on a journey that was supposed to end with the group travelling to the Eurovision in Liverpool, which takes place next week.

Bell, 60, was described as a ‘kind and kind’ person as well as a much-loved stalwart of the Adelaide music industry who was frequently seen with singers such as Mel C of the Spice Girls and Rita Ora.

Beginning in the 1980s, the versatile nightclub DJ grew into a pop culture specialist, record store owner, music journalist and photographer.

In the 1980s, he spun records at a number of clubs, including Limbo, and in the 1990s, he performed at Heaven and his own Pop! night on Gouger St.

His interviews, reviews, and images appeared in a variety of magazines and music websites, and he played at the Big Day Out festival on a monthly basis.

He is survived by his wife Jordan, their daughter Ruby and his sisters Susan and Janet.
