The Ghana Society of Physically Disabled (GSPD) has criticized dancehall artist Shatta Wale for making disrespectful comments about his fellow artist Stonebwoy’s disability.

In a video circulating online, Shatta Wale appears to mock Stonebwoy’s disability and suggests that it is a result of being a bad person in the eyes of God.
The GSPD issued a statement on April 15 condemning Shatta Wale’s behavior, calling it irresponsible and emphasizing that such attitudes towards disabilities are unacceptable.

They highlighted the diversity of their community, which includes fans of Shatta Wale, and called for respect and understanding.

The GSPD urged Shatta Wale to take corrective actions by removing the offensive video and apologizing to those affected. They reminded the public that mocking an individual’s disability is not only offensive but also legally reprehensible, citing the Disability Act 715.
The society took exception to Shatta Wale’s statement and asked him to retract it, remove the video from social media, and apologize to all persons with disabilities and Ghanaians. They emphasized that having a disability does not mean a person is cursed or being punished by God.
