Tony Christie is an English musician and singer.

Christie began his singing career in the working men’s clubs of Sheffield in the 60s.

He subsequently signed to MCA Records in 1969 and released several hits tracks.

Christie had a couple of top 20 hits in the 70s, including (Is This The Way To) Amarillo in 1971 which reached number 18 in the UK charts but enjoyed his best success with the re-release of the song in 2005.

It went to number one and became the highest-selling number one single of the year.

With a music career spanning over 50 years, Christie has recorded over forty albums and seventy singles.

Did Tony Christie write his own songs?

Tony Christie has written a couple of songs but many of his songs were written by Mitch Murray and Peter Callander.

In 1966, he co-wrote Barbara Ruskin’s ‘Life’s Too Good To Waste’ for CBS and wrote When Will I Love Again in 1967.
