The Netflix film, The Watcher is a true life story based on an article published by the New York Magazine in 2018 titled “The Haunting of a Dream House”.

The article follows the story of how Maria and Derek Broaddus bought their dream home in 2014, but the constant scary letters of an unknown stalker, wouldn’t let them enjoy it.

The New Jersey home on Boulevard street becomes a complete horrific nightmare.

The first letter sent by The anonymous Watcher states that he had been put in charge of watching the house, as it was their family tradition for many decades.

“My grandfather watched the house in the 1920s and my father watched in the 1960s. It is now my time. “Do you know what lies within the walls of 657 Boulevard? Why are you here?”, the letter read.
