In a remarkable turn of events, L.W. Wright, who vanished after a 1982 Talladega race, resurfaced in 2022, four decades later.

Rick Houston, the host of “The Scene Vault” podcast, unveiled Wright’s identity as Larry Earnest Wright and conducted an interview in May 2022, where Wright authenticated himself with tangible evidence, including his race firesuit.

However, the plot thickened in February 2023 when Wright encountered legal woes, leading to his arrest in Tennessee for theft, burglary, and evading arrest.

Tragically, he succumbed to colon cancer in January 2024 at the age of 74.
