How did Lynyrd Skynyrd’s plane run out of fuel?

According to reports, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s plane ran out of fuel because of the crew’s inattention to fuel supply. The National Transportation Safety Board determined that the probable cause of the crash was fuel exhaustion and total loss of power from both engines because the crew forget to provide enough fuel for the plane.

Five members of the band survived the plane crash. Those members were Allen Collins, Billy Powell, Artimus Pyle, Gary Rossington, and Leon Wilkerson. The crash killed three members of the group; Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, and Cassie Gaines. Survivors of the crash were twenty (20).
