Russell made her professional acting debut in 2012, when she appeared in an episode of The CW’s medical drama series Emily Owens, M.D.
She portrayed Lark Voorhies in the Lifetime television film The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story in 2014, and Jennifer in the Disney XD television film Pants on Fire.
Rusell appeared as a guest star in the CBC Television drama Strange Empire (2015), the TNT science fiction series Falling Skies (2015), and the Freeform supernatural horror series Dead of Summer (2016).

She also appeared in the 2017 teen drama Before I Fall and the 2017 supernatural horror film Down a Dark Hall (2018).
Taylor Russell has appeared in the critically acclaimed drama Waves (2019), for which she received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Female
Russell received the Marcello Mastroianni Award for his performance as a cannibalistic adolescent in the road movie Bones and All (2022).
