Sonya Eddy’s friend and fellow actor Octavia Spencer announced her death on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, on Instagram.

Born on June 17, 1967 in Concord, California, Sonya attended the University of California, Davis, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in 1992.
She commenced her acting career with Ruby Dee’s play “Zora Is My Name” in 1990.
