In the miniseries Temptations, Smokey Robinson appears as himself in a cameo at the end of Part Two where he sings at Melvin’s funeral.
Smokey Robinson is best recognized as one of the most iconic soul singers of all time. Robinson was the lead singer, chief songwriter and producer for the Miracles.

Smokey Robinson was inducted as a solo artist into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. Robinson’s single “Just to See Her” from the One Heartbeat album was awarded the 1988 Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
In 1989, Smokey Robinson was inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. Smokey Robinson won the Heritage Award at the Soul Train Music Awards in 1991.
Smokey Robinson was one of five Kennedy Center honorees in December 2006 Robinson alongside Dolly Parton, Zubin Mehta, Steven Spielberg and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
