Sharon Tate was an American actress and model. On August 9, 1969, Tate and four others were murdered in the home she shared with Polanski by members of the Manson Family, a cult.

Bruce Lee and Tate first met in 1965, when her Hollywood hairstylist boyfriend at the time, Jay Sebring, helped Lee break into acting.

Tate and Lee got along so well that she invited him to dinner at her and Polanski’s house, telling Polanski, “You two will get along like a house on fire.”

They did it. Polanski even took Lee on a ski trip to Gstaad, Switzerland, where he purchased the yellow jumpsuit he later wore in “Game of Death.”

Following Tate’s murder by the Manson family, Lee and Polanski’s friendship hit a snag: Polanski blamed Lee for Tate’s death at one point.
