On Saturday, April 9, 2022, after returning from his hiatus to improve his mental health, Ryan Garcia defeated Ghanaian boxer Emmanuel Tagoe by a unanimous decision.

Ryan Garcia (22-0, 18 KOs) won in his return to boxing on Saturday night, defeating Emmanuel Tagoe (32-2, 15 KOs) by unanimous decision in San Antonio.

Ryan Garcia dominated the fight, but didn’t get the knockout he had predicted.

Judges Tom Carusone and Ellis Johnson both scored the bout 119 to 108, while Lisa Giampa had it a tad closer at 118-109, all in favor of Garcia.

Ryan Garcia ended his 15-month hiatus in dominating fashion, but there is still plenty to improve on with new coach Joe Goossen.
