He was known by many as an angry and blunt comedian whose style of comedy was completely different and very well-understood by just a few. He got his breakthrough in 1963 when he appeared on The Jackie Gleason Show.

“Pat Cooper was a true legend. A comic in the purest sense of the word. Brutal and quick, few ever dominated a room like him. Hilarious human being. One of the last of the generation that formed stand up comedy today. I’ll miss him,” Andrew Idell, a fan shared.

“So sad to hear that the brilliant comedian Pat Cooper has passed away at the age of 93. He was one of my favorite guests of all time. He and I appeared at Carnegie Hall once a year in an all-star charity benefit,” Radio and TV host Mark Simone wrote.
