Mutt Lange is still alive. Lange had an affair with Twain’s best friend, Marie-Anne Thiébaud in 2008 which led to the end of his marriage with Shania. He contacted Shania Twain after hearing her music and spent many hours on the phone with her.

They married on December 28, 1993, six months after first contacting each other. Lange is a non-drinker, so they served non-alcoholic champagne for their wedding. As a sign of his devotion to Twain, Lange had the song “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” played. Their son Eja (pronounced “Asia”) was born in August 2001.

Lange is a strict vegetarian who adheres to Sant Mat’s egalitarian ideals. He hasn’t granted an interview in decades and prefers to live in seclusion, primarily in the Swiss town of La Tour-de-Peilz.
