His life story was the inspiration for the book “The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game” by Michael Lewis, which was later adapted into a popular movie titled “The Blind Side.”
Michael Oher revealed that the story at the heart of the popular book and movie was a lie. In court documents filed in Tennessee on Monday, August 14, 2023, Oher claims his adoptive parents Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy did not adopt him – but instead deceived him into making them his conservators just after his 18th birthday.

According to the petition, Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, as well as their two children, Sean Jr. and Collins, struck a deal that paid them $225,000 plus 2.5% of “defined net proceeds” collected from “The Blind Side” at the box office, DVD sales, and streaming revenue.
According to Michael’s petition, he earned nothing from the money while his family got millions. Furthermore, Michael said that in 2007, the family forced him to sign a contract giving 20th Century Fox the life rights to his story “without any payment whatsoever.”
