Keith Yandle, a sixteen-year NHL veteran, announced his retirement on September 20, 2022.

For someone who suited up so frequently, he said the decision to retire was a difficult one.
Speaking in an interview, he said “For me, like the last couple weeks, I’ve really been at ease with it, really enjoyed spending time with the family. … Looking forward to the next chapter, for us,”
He holds the NHL ironman record with 989 games played, beginning on March 26, 2009, and ending on April 2, when he was a healthy scratch for the Philadelphia Flyers.

He broke Doug Jarvis’ previous record of 964 on Jan. 25 and will most likely be surpassed this season by the Vegas Golden Knights’ Phil Kessel (982). Yandle set the record despite a broken jaw and other injuries.
The Phoenix Coyotes selected Keith Yandle 105th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in 1,109 NHL games, including 558 with the Coyotes, 371 with the Florida Panthers, 103 with the New York Rangers, and 77 with the Philadelphia Flyers.
Yandle currently ranks 42nd and 31st all-time among defensemen with 619 points and 516 assists.
