Did Joan Hotchkis Remarry?

Joan Hotchkis, a legendary American stage, screen and television actress, writer and performance artist did not remarry after her divorce from Robert Foster, a movie director.

Robert and Joan were married for barely 9 years. They met during a live commercial in 1958.

Not long after meeting, they got married and had a daughter, Paula, who was born in 1962. In 1967, five years after the birth of their daughter, they divorced.

Despite being divorced, Hotchkis maintained a good co-parenting relationship with Foster.

Sadly, the legendary actress has died. She died on Sept. 27. 2022 from congestive heart failure six days after celebrating her 95th birthday.

She starred in many movies but was perhaps, best known for;

  • Playing Dr. Nancy Cunningham for several seasons on The Odd Couple,
  • Co-writing with Eric Morris the seminal acting manual “No Acting Please” (1977), which is still used in colleges and conservatories, and
  • Her groundbreaking performance art works in the 1990s.

Hotchkis, a lifetime member of the Actors Studio and the Dramatists Guild is survived by her daughter Paula and many loved ones who will miss her greatly.

Her funeral will be private, but fans can contribute to her memory by donating money to Highways Performance Space.
