Did Jim Caviezel wear a prosthetic nose for Passion of Christ?

In Mel Gibson’s 2004 film The Passion of the Christ, Caviezel played Jesus Christ. He was struck by lightning, was accidentally scourged, had his shoulder dislocated, and experienced pneumonia and hypothermia while filming.

Jim Caviezel’s hairline was raised and he was given a prosthetic nose. On film, his blue eyes were digitally turned to brown. Following the completion of the film, many of the actors and crew converted to Catholicism as a result of their experiences on set.

Not only was Jim Caviezel struck twice, but so was assistant director Jan Michelini. When Caviezel and Michelini were zapped, they were both under the cover of the latter’ umbrella.

During the extended flogging sequence, a few wayward lashes left the actor with a 14-inch scar on his back. While filming the Sermon on the Mount, Caviezel was struck by lightning.
